In addition to knowing how to execute a trade, you should also be aware of two key components of CFD trading: going short and financing costs.

Going short allows you to potentially profit from falling and volatile markets. Shorting opens a position by selling, then, when the position falls in price, you buy it back, making a profit on the difference in price. However, if the position increases in price you will be exposed to a loss.

Financing costs are important because they affect your return levels, depending on the value of your exposure to the market. Quite simply, if you carry a CFD position overnight, it will incur a financing cost.
